The Tesla Model 3 is expected to roll off the production line in the coming weeks, with deliveries beginning as early as October.
The first update since its launch in 2017, the new Model 3 has a new interior design and fewer components, resulting in a much cheaper car. The vehicle uses a CATL M3P battery.
Insiders say the Model 3 is already in full-scale production in Shanghai with 7,000 cars expected to be made in August.
To get rid of existing Model 3 languishing in showrooms and parking lots, Tesla is offering bargains galore, with starting prices as low as 220,000 yuan (US$30,000).
While the official price is yet to be disclosed, cost-cutting will lead to additional markdowns.
