Chinese automaker BAIC Group, a partner of Huawei, is to restart the construction of a factory to meet the needs of the collaboration.
These two have worked together before on intelligent driving and smart cockpits, though with dismal sales figures. In H1, only 10,000 ArcFox, the brainchild of BAIC-Huawei, were sold.
For the Arcfox, things can only get better, and must. AITO, a product of a Huawei-Seres liaison, is selling more than 10,000 cars a month.
The reason behind the step up in collaboration with BAIC may come from within. Huawei’s automaking branch is the only department reporting losses, partly due to the disproportionately high cost of Arcfox's platform and insistent unpopularity.
