Guangzhou has unveiled its economic performance for H1 across districts.

The city’s overall GDP reached 1.4 trillion yuan (US$200 billion). Tianhe, Huangpu and Yuexiu districts stood out in GDP volume, while the districts of Zengcheng, Haizhu, and Baiyun boasted notable growth, with Zengcheng leading the way at 8.6 percent. Only Huadu had negative growth.

The success of Zengcheng stems from the advanced manufacturing and high-tech sectors, driving a 10.6 percent increase in advanced manufacturing output. Haizhu thrived due to the digital economy, Baiyun in transportation.

Huangpu, where Honda is based, struggled with 0.8 percent GDP growth due to automotive setbacks. Southern districts faced similar auto-related challenges as car manufacturing dipped.

On the other hand, Panyu District thrived, driven by automotive manufacturing, and attracted investment from Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC)
