After the success of exporting cultural-loaded games and online literature, collectibles have become a new avenue for cross-border e-commerce.

Recently, eBay has partnered with the Certified Collectibles Group (CCG), a set of independent third-party companies focused on the authentication of collectibles like trading cards, coins, toys, and comics.

Collectibles, such as trading cards, remain popular among enthusiasts. Collectible cards, especially Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, are in high demand. They fetch substantial prices, with one rare Pokémon card selling for US$650,000.

Chinese collectors on eBay are driving increased sales in collectibles, including non-sports cards, anime figurines, and star player cards.

The collaboration with CCG and other measures indicates the industry’s desire to build trust between buyers and sellers, especially in cross-border transactions, attracting new players and ensuring the industry’s overall development.
