Domestic EV maker Hozon has jaws dropping all over the marketplace with its upgraded Neta S. The new car comes in six models, offering both pure electric and extended-range options.
The main focus of the upgrades is on the configurations. All except the "Lite" are equipped with varying levels of Neta Pilot, an advanced driving assistance system (ADAS). Prices start at 160,000 yuan (US$22,000) rising to 270,000 yuan. There are plenty of deals on offer and the Neta S can actually be purchased for as little as 147,000 yuan, making it the cheapest in its class.
However, the price of the new model triggered owners of the 2022 Neta S.
Most of them placed their orders in the second half of last year and received their vehicles in May or June this year. Not only did they not get ADAS, but they paid 30,000 yuan more. Neta’s CEO ZHANG Yong has promised some compensation for the disgruntled drivers, but without giving any details.
Zhang also said price cuts are inevitable. Earlier this month, SAIC Volkswagen announced a price cut, and Tesla’s Elon Musk has been hinting at more price cuts to come for Tesla.
