LU Lili, wife of QI Shi, the founder of financial information provider East Money Information and the second-largest shareholder of the company, has bought 8.26 percent of the total share capital of Wanda Cinemas for 2.17 billion yuan (US$300 million).
Lu said that the funds came from her own resources - she owns 2.76 percent of East Money - and she has no plans to increase her stakes in any listed companies in the next 12 months.
Lu is now the second-largest shareholder in Wanda Cinemas. Wanda remains the controlling shareholder, and its founder WANG Jianlin remains the actual controller.
In the half-year forecast released on July 4, Wanda Cinemas said revenue in the first six months would reach 6.9 billion yuan and the company would turn a profit.
Wanda Cinemas closed 0.51 percent higher on Wednesday at 13.91 yuan.
