The release of Apple’s mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, has generated renewed interest in XR (extended reality) products and boosted sales.
Consumers are interested in existing XR products that offer similar functionality to Vision Pro, said XU Chi, CEO of Xreal, an XR glasses maker.
Apple’s Vision Pro, priced at US$ 3,499 (roughly 25,00 yuan), is set to launch in the US in 2024. New interaction methods such as virtual keyboards and eye tracking are being viewed as the start of the Spatial Computing era, good for XR developers.
Xu believes that Vision Pro has provided clarity on the industry’s direction and what future terminals may look like. Despite the previous stagnation in the AR/VR field, Vision Pro sets a benchmark in hardware, interaction methods, and scenarios. It features micro-OLED screens, LiDAR sensors, and advanced audio capabilities. Chinese companies, with their supply chain and terminal advantages, are expected to be at the forefront of the spatial computing revolution.
