TotalEnergies to double gas stations in China

French multinational TotalEnergies plans to double its number of gas stations in China to approximately 800 in the next five years. Within two years, Total aims to have 11,000 charging piles for electric vehicles.

Anne-Solange Renouard, president of Total China, said in an interview that despite slow growth or even a decline in China’s refined oil consumption, Total the country has not yet reached peak consumption and new energy vehicles account for a small proportion of demand.

Total hopes that charging stations will comprise about a quarter of its downstream business in the next five years and has established partnerships in the field.

Total is investing in charging infrastructure and services, with plans for over 11,000 piles in Hubei province by 2025.
