Ride-haling giant Didi Chuxing on Thursday unveiled its first self-driving maintenance center and a concept car, the DiDi Neuron.
The company also presented two core hardware devices, the "Beiyao Beta" LiDAR and the "Orca" computing platform. Beiyao Beta is the first 2K-level LiDAR in China, according to Didi. It has a super-large field of view of 120 degrees laterally and 25.6 degrees vertically, over 3 million high-point frequencies per second, and over 512 lines.
Didi is aiming to achieve all-weather and large-scale mixed dispatch services by adding its first mass-produced vehicle to the shared travel network in 2025. The company is advocating for skipping straight to L4 autonomous driving and predicts that it will be mass-produced and put into use around 2026. They are also targeting the freight industry for commercialization scenarios.
