ZENG Yuqun, chairman of world’s largest EV battery maker CATL, called for better safety and quality standards for energy storage systems in a proposal submitted to the annual sessions of National People's Congress (NPC), which starts on March 4.
A member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, Zeng said in his submission that while the domestic energy storage industry has grown fast, the quality of products is inconsistent, posing safety and reliability problems to the industry.
Zeng urged the government to establish a “nuclear power level” evaluation system for energy storage projects.
