US automaker Ford and Chinese battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) will jointly build a US$3.5 billion lithium iron phosphate battery plant in Michigan, sources close to the matter said. Both companies declined to comment.
The plant is said to be built 100 kilometers west of Detroit and will hire 2,500 workers.
