Chinese EV maker Nio is cutting the prices of two of its models, the ES6 and the ES8
No official statement has been made, but a source told Jiemian News that, with the new discounts, customers can a get a Nio ES6 - originally priced at 432,900 yuan (US$60,000) - for only 313,700 yuan.
Nio delivered 8,500 units in January, down 12 percent year-on-year, and only about a half of December’s deliveries.
The discounts come as Nio’s peers reduce prices. Industry insiders said the move is Nio’s attempt to braise sales volume and destock as the company prepares to launching a new model this year.
