Some 566 million people were on the move in the first two weeks of Chunyun, the annual Spring Festival travel rush that started on January 7, said the Ministry of Transportation.
Previously, the ministry expected the 40-day exodus to see 2.1 billion people traveling, twice as many as in 2022. But by the Chinese New Year’s Eve, the amount of increase of people traveling was only about 50 percent, compared with 371 million people last year.
