After having launched three EV models last year under the brand Foxtron, Foxconn, the world's largest technology manufacturer and service provider, announced another two this month, a Model B hatchback and a Model V pickup truck, the company’s first.
Of the three models last year, Model T, an electric bus, is already on the road in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung. Model C, a crossover, is in mass production and will be delivered next year. Model E, a sedan, will start mass production in 2024.
This month, Foxconn signed a deal with California-based EV startup Indiev. Its Ohio factory will help Indiev build a prototype called INDI One.
Foxconn started MIH (Mobility in Harmony) Consortium, an open EV development platform, in June 2021 with NIO cofounder ZHENG Xiancong as CEO. It now has 2,400 members, consisting of 75 percent hardware makers and 25 percent software companies. The goal is to have its technologies mass-adopted by 2024.

Chairman Young Liu said Foxconn hopes to reach NT$1 trillion (US$30 billion, 225 billion yuan) in sales, up to 75,000 units of production, and 5 percent of market share by 2025.
Foxconn formed a joint venture with Geely last year for car manufacturing. In May, it acquired a majority share of Ohio-based EV startup Lordstown. This year, it signed with Thailand’s PTT to build an EV factory.
