Salesforce shuts Hong Kong office

On August 3, Salesforce, the largest CRM software service provider in the US, announced the closure of its office in Hong Kong. Most of the staff of around 70 have been laid off.

Salesforce’s Hong Kong office was responsible for business operations in China, which will be handed over to Alibaba Cloud. Since Salesforce’s Chinese business servers are all located in Japan, its products will operate as usual. Salesforce retains a team of 10 in Singapore.

Prior to this, in November 2021, Tableau, which is owned by Salesforce, ceased direct operations in mainland China and integrated its business into Alibaba.

Salesforce’s revenue in the Asia-Pacific region was US$702 million (4.7 billion yuan), accounting for only 9.5 percent of overall revenue The main source of growth was the Australian market.
