The domestic waste paper price index was 2161.6 on Thursday, down 5.17 percent from the previous month.
Domestic corrugated paper was 3,454 yuan/ton (US$500), a 12 percent drop from the year’s high of 3,934 yuan per ton and a new low for the year. Due to the rainy season, packaging stations are actively shipping waste paper. The arrival of waste paper from paper mills has increased, while prices have fallen.
Domestic waste paper dealer Shanying International is expected to achieve a net profit of as little as 140 million yuan in H1, down 88 percent. Zhejiang Jingxing Paper expects a profit of up to 150 million yuan in H1 this year, down 58 percent.
