Tesla Inc. has changed its management structure in the Asia Pacific, with top executives in the region now reporting to China instead of the US
WANG Hao, the general sales manager in China has been made a vice president.
For now, Tesla’s Asia-Pacific region covers five countries including Singapore and Japan. Sales in the region are low and the market is small. In 2021, South Korea, Australia and Japan together accounted for 3 percent of total sales, while Tesla’s main market, China, accounted for 33.4 percent.
In June, Tesla sold 79,000 Chinese-made vehicles, up 138 percent. Sales of passenger cars in China are closing in on 2 million units, up by almost a quarter.
