Tencent is to establish a lab with Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia to develop high-level autonomous driving technology. Mercedes-Benz subsidiary Daimler signed an agreement with Tencent in Beijing on Monday.
While advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are common in the auto industry, Level 3 systems are not allowed on cars in any Chinese city but Shenzhen, where Tencent is based.
Tencent has worked with more than 40 carmakers on smart traffic technology.
