On June 5, the fuel surcharge on domestic routes for Chinese airlines is to be raised for the fourth time this year. The increase of 20 yuan (US$3) to 80-140 yuan, is around eight times the level seen at the beginning of the year.
Fuel prices have risen sharply in the past six months.
In Q1, all listed domestic airlines suffered losses. Air China lost 8.9 billion yuan, China Southern Airlines 4.5 billion yuan. Juneyao, Spring and China Express lost around 500 million yuan each.
