ByteDance has changed the name of its Hong Kong subsidiary from ByteDance (Hong Kong) Limited to Douyin Group (Hong Kong) Limited with effect on May 6. Several other subsidiaries under ByteDance have also been renamed “Douyin”.
The changes have revived speculation that ByteDance plans to spin off its business around the short video app Douyin for a Hong Kong IPO.
