E-commerce and delivery companies are trying to pursue a business-as-usual service in the locked-down city as Shanghai relies heavily on drivers for its daily necessities.
Dingdong Maicai has called 500 of its team back to work and reopened around 30 warehouses. By the end of this week, 80 percent of front-end warehouses are expected to be up and running.
Alibaba’s Ele.me, RT-Mart, Hema, and Cainiao will soon have 3,000 more workers, mainly drivers, couriers and warehouse workers. RT-Mart has deployed 600 employees from other cities.
