XU Lei, president of JD.com, has been appointed CEO, replacing founder Richard Liu who will stay on as the chairman.
“I’ll devote more of my time to JD’s long-term strategies and future drivers as we continue to work on the most challenging yet valuable things,” Liu said in a statement.
Xu has worked for JD.com for more than ten years and has “led JD Retail to achieve high-quality growth” since he became CEO of JD Retail.
