An aircraft crashed into a mountainous area of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Monday and caused a fire in the woods, the emergency management authority of Guangxi said.
China Eastern flight MU5735, a Boeing 737, was carrying 132 passengers from Yunnan’s Kunming to Guangdong’s Guangzhou. Around 3:30pm, flight information platform VariFlight marked the plane “missing”.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport said the flight was scheduled to leave Kunming at 1:10pm and arrive in Guangzhou at 2:52pm.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene and the number of casualties was not immediately known, state broadcaster CCTV said.
