After merely three months of operation, ByteDance shut down its cross-border e-commerce site Dmonstudio on February 11.
A letter on Dmonstudio’s official website said it will continue to provide after-sale services for customers but did not reveal the reason why it ceased operation. Its social media accounts were closed too.
Sources said Dmonstudio had a team of more than 400 staff, over half of which were poached from Shein, an e-commerce site from Guangzhou that dominates the fast-fashion online market in the US.
ByteDance can’t be reached for comments.
