The Chinese official train ticket website 12306 now supports English at https://www.12306.cn to create more convenience for foreign passengers. From now on, they can register their own accounts and purchase train tickets.
According to the China Railway, the English page of 12306 provides functions such as registration, login, one-way ticket purchase, refund, and order query, etc. Other services such as catering and tourist information are not yet provided.
The English page currently only supports valid foreign passport registration, while the domestic high-speed rail and regular train e-ticket system are only applicable to Chinese passports and ID cards. Foreign passengers still need to print their tickets in advance and be verified by manual passage.
The English page supports multiple payment methods. In addition to the existing payment methods (major banks of China, Alipay, WeChat, etc.), it also supports VISA, MasterCard, JCB, and Diners.
