Johnson & Johnson drug wins China approval for BRCA2-mutated prostate cancer

Johnson & Johnson said on Monday that Chinese regulators had approved Akeega (niraparib and abiraterone acetate) for use in combination with prednisone or prednisolone in adult patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) carrying germline and/or somatic BRCA2 mutations.

The approval was granted by China's National Medical Products Administration, expanding the drug's approved use in the country.

Akeega had previously been approved in China for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who carry germline and/or somatic BRCA mutations.
