Boeing appoints Landon Loomis as China president after Liu Qing's retirement

Boeing has named Landon Loomis as president of Boeing China, effective immediately, following the retirement of LIU Qing, the company said on Oct. 23.

Loomis, who will be based in Beijing, will oversee Boeing's operations, strategy, partnerships and senior government relations in China. He will also continue to serve as the company’s vice president for global policy.

A fluent Mandarin speaker, Loomis joined Boeing in 2019 after serving as special adviser to then–U.S. Vice President Mike Pence. He previously worked at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing as a trade officer overseeing aviation cooperation and has since led Boeing's business in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Boeing Brazil.

Liu, a veteran executive with more than two decades of experience in China's auto and aviation sectors, became Boeing China president in 2023. During his tenure, he strengthened partnerships with Chinese airlines and research institutions as the company sought to navigate trade frictions and delayed aircraft deliveries.
