Huawei unveils AITO Wenjie M9, its most expansive EV model so far

The M9 comes in four versions, priced from 470,000 yuan with deliveries scheduled in February at the earliest.

On December 25, Huawei unveiled the AITO Wenjie M9, the latest fruit of the IT giant’s cooperation with Seres. The M9, positioned as a top-tier SUV, is described as "the best SUV under ten million yuan (US$1.4 billion), the most powerful SUV on the road" by Yu Chengdong, Chairman of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution BU.

The M9 comes in four versions, priced from 470,000 yuan with deliveries scheduled in February at the earliest. There are already over 54,000 overs. The previous AITO, the M7 sold 100,000 in two months. 

The Wenjie M9, a large SUV built on a new platform, offers both extended-range and pure electric power options, with acceleration times of 4.3 seconds and 4.9 seconds per hundred kilometers, respectively.

In the realm of intelligent driving, the Wenjie M9 boasts 27 sensors, including a newly designed 192-line lidar, aiming for a nationwide high-level intelligent driving experience by the end of this year.

With Seres as Huawei's strategic partner, the Wenjie brand has seen success in the past, with the Weanjie M7 surpassing 100,000 orders in just over two months. 

To further encourage users to embrace intelligent driving, Huawei is offering limited-time discounts for the Huawei ADS 2.0 intelligent driving advanced package, with a one-time purchase price of 26,000 yuan from January to March next year.

The Wenjie M9 adds to Huawei's growing EV lineup, which changed its name to Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), including the recently released Luxeed S7 collaborated with Chery. Huawei plans to continue expanding its presence in the EV market through partnerships with BAIC Group and JAC Automobile.

As part of its channel expansion, Huawei is set to establish independent HIMA stores, with around 800 new stores expected by the end of 2024. These stores will play a crucial role in providing sales, delivery, and after-sales services.
