Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) is to open 800 stores next year in 78 cities to sell EVs.
HIMA is Huawei's collaboration with car makers including BAIC Group, Seres, Chery and JAC Motors. The Aito Wenjie EVs with Seres and Luxeed S7 with Chery have already hit the market.
Currently, Huawei's car sales channels can be divided into three types: flagship stores, experience stores, and HIMA centers. Experience stores account for the majority, but such stores can only accommodate display vehicles.
The role of mobile phone dealers has been diminished, with a focus on store rentals.
With plans for luxury models, stores will need to upgrade their services, another reason for independent HIMA centers.
Some of Huawei's existing stores began to transform into direct-operated stores in October. Employment contracts were transferred to Huawei.
