JAC Motors is to collaborate with Huawei to develop luxury intelligent connected EVs.
JAC Motors is one of the members of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) and one of Huawei’s closest partners in the smart-car business. Membership of HIMA is now the only way car makers can access Huawei tech.
Three HIMA cars in production all cost less than 300,000 yuan (US$42,000). The JAC vehicle is expected to be much more expensive.
JAC Motors will be responsible for production, while Huawei will handle sales and marketing, along with all other customer-facing activities.
Huawei is spinning off its car business unit to open up equity to automotive companies.
