Q3 has been the first profitable quarter in three years for many airlines.
Air China saw revenue of 4.2 billion yuan in Q3. China Southern Airlines saw a net income of 1.32 billion yuan in the first three quarters. China Eastern Airlines made a 2.6 billion yuan loss in the first three quarters.
In the private sector, Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines continue to lead, Spring with a profit of 1.8 billion yuan in the third quarter. Juneyao Airlines reported a profit of 1.13 billion yuan in the first three quarters.
The third quarter, which includes the summer travel season of July and August, is always a busy period for airlines.
The fourth quarter is expected to see higher passenger traffic than the same period in 2019. Many airlines have launched various promotional packages to boost consumption.
