Research firm Counterpoint said on Friday that Huawei has sold 1.6 million Mate60 Pro in its first six weeks, with over 400,000 sold in the past two weeks.
Selling 1.6 million phones in six weeks is quite an achievement in the current climate. And it’s in short supply, so if more were available, more could be sold.
Demand for phones remains weak. In Q3, the global phone market shrank by 8 percent to its lowest level in a decade. Huawei, Honor and the Chinese brand Transsion were the only brands to achieve year-on-year growth.
Huawei's return has been the biggest thing this year. Almost all of Mate60’s components come from China. More than 10,000 components are domestically sourced.
A Mate60 ordered now will not be delivered until November or December. On unofficial channels, it is priced around 1,000 yuan above the official price.
The popularity of Mate60 is being credited with sales of the Aito M7. Pre-orders for the M7 already exceed 60,000. Seres only sold 75,000 cars in 2022.
