Tencent announced on Monday that its application service Tencent Todo will cease operations and be removed from app stores from December 20, citing a “business development direction adjustment”.

Tencent Todo’s website, todo.tencent.com, is currently inaccessible, but users can export their data and save their to-do content through its WeChat mini-program.

The application was introduced in August 2021 as a task and schedule management tool with cross-device synchronization and collaboration.

Tencent’s decision to discontinue Todo is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to streamline its business operations.

Tencent has been shutting down products that fail to meet revenue expectations in the gaming sector, with more than five games discontinued recently. Since last year, Tencent has gradually shut down services including Penguin FM, Qzone Huateng, and WiFi Manager.

The last shutdown occurred in July when the audio platform Penguin FM went off the air. In the same month, the QQ shopping program, QQ Xiaodian, declared that it would cease operations.

Tencent recently witnessed internal personnel changes, with Vice President ZENG Yu appointed as the head of technology for the Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) while retaining responsibility for the technology division of Platform and Content Group (PCG). Zeng will lead technological development in major content departments.

HE Yijin is now head of PCG information platform and services, where he will continue to oversee Tencent News, with a specific focus on advancing content-related ventures, including news and information.
