Search engine giant Baidu unveiled the latest version of its Ernie bot on Tuesday. According to CEO Robin Li, this latest iteration matches GPT-4 in understanding, generation, logic, and memory.
At the Baidu World Conference, Li demonstrated Ernie’s proficiency in interpreting complex cues, via a sample image, and the bot was able to create a set of advertising posters, a marketing video and copy.
Baidu had previously emphasized reconfiguration of its products and services to make use of the bot, and Li updated Baidu's progress in various product lines, including the search engine.
Instead of presenting a list of links, the new Baidu search generates multimodal answers comprising text, images, and dynamic charts based on content comprehension.
In addressing complex queries, the feature of "multi-round interaction" allows users to refine their search needs through prompts and adjustments, tailoring the results to their individual requirements.
Li was confident that large models would generate an ecosystem of AI applications, leading to the integration of digital technology and the real economy.
