China has named WANG Zhiqing as chairman and party secretary for China Eastern Airlines, the company said on its official WeChat account on Monday.
Wang, 57, has spent most of his career in the aviation industry. He was appointed Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2014. From 2019 to 2021, Wang was named Vice Minister of Transport of China. Prior to his new post, Wang served as the Deputy Secretary-General of The State Council from 2021 to October 2023.
China Eastern Airlines' former chairman LIU Shaoyong retired in July last year, the post has since been vacant, until Wang's appointment.
