The National Immigration Administration reported a significant uptick in border inspections during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. A total of 11.82 million travelers were inspected, averaging 1.48 million per day. This represents nearly triple the figures from the same period last year and 85.1 percent of 2019's numbers.
Of those inspected, 5.87 million were inbound travelers, while 5.95 million were outbound. The examination of inbound and outbound transportation vehicles also saw a notable increase, reaching 495,000 (ships, trains, and vehicles) — a 1.4-fold rise from last year.
On October 2, a record-breaking 1.67 million travelers were processed, marking the highest single-day total during the holiday period.
