Ji Yue, a technology brand spawned by automaker Geely and search engine Baidu, has begun presales of its first "automotive robotics" Ji Yue 01, the company’s flagship EV model, with the price starting from 259,900 yuan (US$35,509.94). The first batch will be delivered in October.
Ji Yue, formerly known as Jidu, was founded in March 2021. At that time, Baidu controlled 55 percent of Jidu. But in August, Ji Yue appeared, 65 percent owned by Geely.
While Baidu provides its know-how in smart cockpits, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence technology, Ji Yue 01 is based on Geely’s sustainable experience architecture.
For those who have no idea what "automotive robotics" means, it's a car with a 2,000-liter cargo space, about five times the capacity of an ordinary sedan. The motor has a maximum power of 400kW and a range of over 700 kilometers.
Twenty-four hours after presales began, the company received 15,389 orders had been received.
