Since its release on September 12, the new AITO M7, an electric SUV jointly developed by Huawei and Seres, has been doing well, with about 20,000 sold in the first week. Early estimates indicate that the company may have already sold more than 20,000 units, putting this year's sales on track to pass last year's 75,000.

The popularity of the AITO owes something to Huawei's latest phone, the Mate 60.

Sales representatives report that customers start talking about Mate 60 series, but end up talking about the AITO. More importantly, the Mate 60 won't be delivered this month, but those who place orders for the M7 can skip the queue. It makes things easier that the AITO is on sale in any of the 1,000 Huawei smartphone stores.

Huawei has adjusted its sales strategy to bring sales personnel previously employed by dealers directly under Huawei management.
