Shanghai Disneyland gave fans the first look at its highly anticipated Zootopia park on September 5. GM Joe Schott said the park will officially open later this year.
Zootopia, the animated film that inspired the park, was a record-breaking success in 2016, becoming the highest-grossing animated film in the Chinese mainland, with over US$1 billion in global box office revenue. It also received an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.
The Zootopia in Shanghai Disneyland is a city designed for mammals with animal themes woven into the architecture creating four zone within the city, such as the Sahara Square with succulents and palm trees.
Key attractions include “Zootopia: Hot Pursuit,” where visitors assume the role of new officers at the Zootopia Police Department, joining Judy and Nick on a thrilling chase.
